Addo Elephant Park, South Africa
If you are a regular visitor to TourAbsurd, you would be forgiven for thinking that I have an elephant fetish. Let me assure you that the definition of my animal fandom is both wide and varied. That being said, I really enjoy animal and landscape pictures, so when April of Absolute Travel Addict sent me a selection of photos to choose from, I immediately went for the critter pic!
Here's what April has to say about the photo:
"As a part of a 6 week research trip/tour of South Africa, I made a two day stop at the Addo Elephant Park. We stayed in some cool bush guest house accommodation over looking a watering hole. This specific shot was taken during a tour of the park. We came upon a baby elephant in our open top Land Rover and the mother elephant came to protect her baby from the crazy Americans."
Smart mama elephant! ;)

What a great photo. Elephants are so majestic.
I agree! They are gorgeous and powerful, yet capable of being so refined. :)
I love elephants. Nice pic.
Thanks for stopping by, Christopher! Nice to see you here. I hope you’ll go give April’s site a peek, too. :D
Oh wow what a powerful photo, I´d love to see an elephant in the wild.
They are so beautiful and impressive, Ayngelina. I hope you manage to make it to Africa at some point (of course, no tigers ;). I’ve only been to Tanzania and Egypt so far — Morocco soon! I would love to see more of east Africa; hubby and I both fell in love with Tanzania to the point where we’d like to live there for a while. Of course, Phil makes powerful arguments for the west! We will have to check it out!
