Ballingcollig, Ireland
This video was shot at a Tweetup in local pub here in Co. Cork. Unbeknownst to me and Dario is that there was live music scheduled along with the chat, pints, and general good craic. The music is what's called a "trad session": an informal gathering of musicians at a local pub, playing traditional Irish music.
Because of the acoustics of the place, the low quality microphone, and the very chatty people in the room (it was a Tweetup :), the best use for this video is probably to put it on in the background, grab a pint, and imagine you're in a pub in Ireland!

You may notice that the pipes are not enormous, strapped to a bag, or deafening. That's because they are uilleann pipes designed more for lovely melodies, as opposed to warpipes that stir the blood and ready a body for battle. I like 'em both, but I was glad to still have my hearing intact later in the evening.
The lads in the video aren't a band, as such, so I can't link you to a website, but they did give me permission to post. ;)
What have you been listening to lately?
Fun! When we lived in London, we always went to this Irish pub on sundays for great live music! It was my favorite part of the week.
Jade, you might want to take a peek at the video suggestions that come up when you watch this on YouTube. Some high-quality recordings of really nice trad sessions here in Cork. I love it! :D
I want to be in an Irish Pub!!
Monday would be a most excellent time for that, since there’s a parade, too. …tickets are cheeeeaaap! ;)
